Dr. Brandon Downs      Dr. Brandon H. Downs is an orthopaedic surgeon who is subspecialty fellowship-trained in sports medicine and arthroscopy. He completed a full orthopaedic sports medicine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. His orthopaedic surgery residency was completed at the University of Tennessee and Campbell Clinic in Memphis, Tennessee.

     During fellowship in orthopaedic sports medicine at the Cleveland Clinic, Dr. Downs trained extensively in the treatment of injuries of the shoulder, elbow and knee. He provided care to the professional athletes of the Cleveland Browns, Cleveland Cavaliers and Cleveland Indians sports teams. He has since provided care for many athletes at the high school, college, and professional levels of competition. Dr. Downs has articles published in orthopaedic journals and has lectured extensively on sports medicine topics. He currently serves as a lecturer and instructor for a major orthopaedic sports medicine company.

     Dr. Downs is a member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgery. He is also a member of the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, American Medical Association, the Tennessee Medical Association and the Nashville Academy of Medicine.

     Dr. Brandon Downs maintains active privileges at Centennial Medical Center, Baptist Hospital, St. Thomas Medical Center, and Hendersonville Medical Center. He also maintains privileges at Centennial Surgery Center, Baptist Plaza Surgicare, Baptist Ambulatory Surgery Center and Premier Surgery Center.

     Dr. Brandon Downs is a native of Nashville, Tennessee. After graduating as valedictorian from his high school, he attended Belmont University as a full scholarship four-year Presidential Scholar. He graduated from Magna Cum Laude from Belmont University with a B.S. in Biology in 1995. Dr. Downs then attended medical school at Loma Linda University where he graduated in the top of his class. For research during medical school, he was awarded the 1998 Walter E. Macpherson award for student researcher of the year. In 1999, he was twice awarded the Bertakis and Starich award for outstanding oral presentation at the American Federation for Medical Research annual meeting.

     Dr. Downs is married to a wonderful wife and is the father of two young children. He is actively involved in his church and serves as a deacon. He is an active competitor in cycling, triathlons and marathons.
